Our story

Pressing honest palm oil in Koforidua, Ghana.

Bakpris Ventures is a palm-oil processor in Koforidua, Eastern Region, Ghana — built on one principle: press good fruit, add nothing, tell the truth about it.

The story

How Bakpris began.

Bakpris Ventures was established around 2015 in Koforidua, Eastern Region, Ghana. The business grew from a straightforward conviction: traditional zomi palm oil, pressed from fully ripe fruit without dyes or additives, is a superior product — and Ghanaian buyers deserve to be able to find it.

At a time when adulteration with Sudan IV and other industrial dyes was already widespread in Greater Accra's markets, Bakpris committed to the slow, careful process: selected fruit, steam-cooking, pressing, and natural settling. No shortcuts. No colouring agents. No preservatives.

The Pukka brand captures that identity — pure, unadulterated, and honest about what it is. Three oils now carry the Pukka name: zomi red palm oil, palm kernel oil, and coconut oil. All processed at the Koforidua mill. All free of additives.

In 2024, Bakpris Ventures was selected for the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) green-business cohort — and announced plans to expand the processing capacity to 10 tons per hour, scaling the same zero-waste, eco-processing model that earned GCIC recognition.

What we stand for

Three things we never compromise.

Purity

No dyes, no preservatives, no additives. Every bottle of Pukka oil contains exactly what the label says — nothing more.

Sustainability

Kernel shells fuel the boiler. By-products go back into feed and fertiliser. No trees are felled to run our mill.

Honesty

We state what is confirmed, flag what is pending. No fabricated certifications, no invented statistics, no marketing fiction.
